STEPS OF THE BLOG LESSON

STEP 1.

Go to vocabulary list 1 and then to vocabulary list 2. Listen to the recordings of the words and word combinations (click on play or audio icons), practice them and consult the dictionary on their meaning.
You can consult an
online English-Russian dictionary here.
Now, do a
vocabulary exercise.

STEP 2.

Go to the Joint Study Project Japan-Russia page. Read about Japanese and Russian teenages' chores. Now, answer the questions below adding comments to this post:
  • Are there any unusual chores mentioned by the Japanese?
  • List your chores. Do you have the same or different ones with the Russian teens from school #130?

STEP 3.

Now, do listening practice exercise. After you listen, read the quiz script (at the same page)with a commentary to some vocabulary items and do practice activity to review vocabulary (at the same page)

STEP 4. (HOMEWORK)

Read your handout The Smart Way to Live (from Click On 4 by Virginia Evans, Neil O'Sullivan) and do activities 34-37.

STEP 5. (PROJECT)

Doing household chores is not very pleasant, is it? Design your own Smart Home like the one you read about in the handout. Which chores will it free you of? Use as much vocabulary from STEP 1 as possible. Consider the following when writing your Smart Home Proposal:

  • who is your proposal for? is it for customers to buy the Smart Home? is it for potential investors? or is it just a piece of science fiction to entertain the public?
  • how many room are there in the Smart Home? what gadgets are there in each room and how exactly do they make people's life easier?
  • what is the biggest advantage of the Smart Home? are there any disadvantages?

If you add some pictures of your Smart House, it'll be wonderful!

GOOD LUCK!
